Common Languages (Languages that can be known with few questions asked):
Aldmeris: The melodic language of the elves. Nobles and mages commonly learn this language, often to just to be able to hear it’s flowing words.
Argonian: The language of the Argonians, few outsiders ever learn their language.
Imperial: The primary language of Cyrodiil. Since the formation of the 3rd Empire, the language has become common among all citizens of the Empire. It has roots in both Aldmeris and Nordic.
Khajiit: The language of the Khajiit, usually only learned by traders visiting Elsweyr
Nordic: The language of the Nords, it has changed little over the years. Historians commonly learn this language as well as traders. Nords themselves rarely speak it except for in rituals and important meetings.
Orc: the savage sounding, yet robust language spoken by the orcs. Those around the Orcish regions as well as Nords commonly learn it.
Rare Languages (Your character will need a reason if it is not a racial language in order to learn one of these):
Ayelied: The language spoken by the Heartland High Elves, a race that once controlled Cyrodiil under an iron fist before the 1st empire. Few know even a few words of this language
Daedric: The language of the Kyn (Dremora) as well as the Daedric Princes. Its words bear much meaning and power, and is commonly known by those with the Conjuration skill.
Dwemeris: The language spoken ages ago by the Deep Elves. It includes an interesting mixture of math into the language. Few people are around in the world that can read this language, usually only known by researchers who have studied the ancient race extensively, and even then most can only barely scratch the surface.
Goblin: The primitive speech of the goblins. Consists of different hoots, growls and other primitive sounds. Few adventurers even bother to learn this language
Ogre: The primitive speech of ogres. It is a heavily guttural language, not usually learned by many.
Old Aldmeris: The language spoken by elves many, many years ago. This language was spoken around the time of the Dwemer, and any ancient records regarding the people were recorded in this language. Few people remain in the world that can read this.
Riekling: A language usually only known by the Rieklings of Solstheim. It appears to be a simpler version of Nordic possibly with some goblin influences.
Yoku: The ancient language of the Yokudans (Redguard). It was phased out of knowledge as the Redguard traded and mingled with the other races of Tamriel. There are only a few remote regions of Hammerfell, that know this language other than some researchers.
