til.gamingsource.net/ <- Very good site for Elder Scrolls Information
While the Tamrielic Empire managed to survive the Oblivion Invasion, the ending of the Septim Bloodline truly marked the end of the Third Era. Ocato, head of the Elder Council, now scrambles to hold together an empire without an Emperor. It is only a matter of time before the once great Third Empire dissolves into dust.
More than a year has passed since the day Martin Septim sacrificed himself to put an end to the Daedra Prince Mehrues Dagon. The Imperial Legion is constantly on high alert as forces move to take advantage of the crumbling empire. The Nords of Skyrim were the first to take advantage; scouts sent across the border of Morrowind before the Daedra had even began their assault on the Imperial City. Now an armies occupy Morrowind’s northwestern corner, and has a destroyed a good portion of House Redoran, sending its citizens fleeing to House Hlaalu and Dres. On the opposite side of the continent, Summerset Isle has severed its trade routes and daedra worship has become very prominent. Rumours of provinces seceding from the Empire abound, and many people close tight their homes, fearful of the future.
It is a turbulent time for Tamriel, one that will decide the very fate of the 4th Era…
Other important changes to Tamriel:
-As noted by the end of Morrowind, there are now blue skies over Red Mountain. Blight storms are a thing of the past, and Ash storms are no longer aided by the mountain. The Ghost Fence is no longer active, though a premature deactivation has led to many ash, blight, and corprus monsters leaking into the wilderness (this is probably due to the little power the Fence had around the time of Dagoth Ur’s defeat).
- Saint Jiub the Great drove the Cliffracers away from Morrowind. The hero was then later killed during the Oblivion Invasion that marked the end of the Third Era. Since then some of the annoying beasts have returned to the land, but their numbers are far fewer.
- Now allied with Skyrim, the Skaal have levelled Fort Frostmoth. The nearby town of Raven Rock has gone on high alert and has already had to fend off numerous attacks. There has been no report from the community in over 4 months.
-The Nerevarine left for undisclosed reasons to the land of Akivar, and has not been heard from since. The Champion of Cyrdodiil has been wounded after being sent to try and negotiate with Skyrim, and as been seen very little in public recently.
-Athyn Sarethi is now Grand Master of the crumbling House Redoran, Aryon is Grand Magister of House Telvanni, and Crassius Curio is (unfortunately) Grand Master of House Hlaalu. Jonius Heronimus is now Knight of the Imperial Dragon in Morrowind, Gargon Gro-Galub is now head of the Fighters Guild and Edwinna Elbert is now Archmage of the Mage’s guild (just for those wondering who’s in control now).
- Lord Vivec announced 2 years ago that both Almalexia and Sotha Sil had perished, though did not disclose of the cause. The living god was grievously wounded during the Oblivion Invasion by a Xivilai Chieftain and he has since remained locked in his palace, attended to only by High Archcanon himself. With the “Living Gods” dead or dieing, there is now much chaos within the Temple and the Dunmer people in general; many have become supporters of the Dissident Priests. Trying to solidify their position with Vvardenfel, the Archcanon and the Temple’s headquarters have re-located to the city of Vivec. The Prison Moon has since lost its power and crashed into the waters near High Fane, the Mage’s guild is currently trying to fix the situation.
-With the massacre that struck the Dark Brotherhood during the Oblivion Crisis, the Morag Tong was able to remove their rival Assassin Guild from Morrowind.
-Kvatch is slowly on the mend, and the Arena is back open in order to increase tourism and immigration. While spirits are high, there is still much debris and ashes around.
-The Dragonbone Cuirass was found by the Nerevarine, along with the Fists or Ragnolf. Their fate now lies with the Nerevarine.
-The Lord’s Mail is now in the possession of Jonius Heronimus (Knight of the Imperial Dragon in Morrowind), along with Chryasmere.
-Umbra was not given to Clavicus Vile by the Champion of Cyrodiil (due to the game glitching if he tried to lol), he later gave it to the Imperial Museum where it was stolen. The thief was killed by the Imperial Watch, but they never found the sword. The blade is in the hands of yet another unknown Swordsman, most likely going by the name Umbra.
-Divayth Fyr is still very much alive, as well as his Wives/Daughters/Modified Clones (whichever you want to call them) and Yagrum Bagarn, the top 2 thirds of the last living dwarf.
-King Hlaalu Helseth is still King of Morrowind. With the Nord’s invading in the north, he has called for aid from the Imperial Legion that was being largely recalled. While Morrowind has a history of hating outsiders, the Morrowind is the largest exterior military force the Empire can trust(ish), and the Imperial Legion is still stationed there. This move to keep imperials in Morrowind has made Helseth a very unpopular figure among the dunmer, though he has gained support from the crippled House Redoran.
If you need any other knowledge about the changes that have happened to Tamriel in this time, ask in the General Section. The majority of this information comes from info said by people in Oblivion, or assumptions made by me, having played both Oblivion and Morrowind alot.
